Mabu is a robot that helps take care of people with chronic health conditions. For the past year, Mabu has been working with Kaiser Permanente patients and Kaiser ]has been paying for it. The robot was created by Catalia Health as a personal health companion that initially worked with heart failure patients but will start working with rheumatoid arthritis and late stage kidney cancer patients within the next couple of months. Over time, Mabu is able to learn about a persons interests and personality. Mabu not only reminds pat ients to take their medication, but can have a conversation and measure the patients emotional state. Mabu even comes with a large display screen that has the questions on it for those who are hearing impaired. Any relevant data gets sent to a doctor each day and for the patients who forget what their doctors said, Mabu can repeat it.
