All Zara clothing will be made out of 100% sustainable fabrics by 2025
Zara made a pretty big announcement this week. Before 2025, all of Zara’s collections will be made out of 100% sustainable fabrics. This commitment was made at the annual shareholder meeting for Inditex. You may have not heard of them before but apparently Forbes named them the world’s third largest apparel company. Inditex not only owns Zara, but also Massimo Dutti and Pull&Bear. All three of their brands will meet the new sustainable target before 2025. The viscose used in their clothing will be 100% sustainable by 2023.
Aside from sustainable fabrics, the company has another target of making sure 80% of the energy consumed by its stores, factories and headquarters will be from renewable sources. Inditex and its facilities will also produce zero landfill waste. There’s clearly a huge shift to sustainability happening at Zara and it’s sister brands. Let’s see what happens next. What else can the fashion industry do to be more sustainable?
