Domino’s pizza announces they will begin using electric bikes for deliveries
Several cities across the US will begin delivering Domino’s pizza by electric bike later this year. Domino’s recently announced a partnership with Seattle-based startup Rad Power Bikes. Franchise owners will be provided with e-bikes from Rad to replace vehicle deliveries.
The E bikes have a small motors and can hold up to 12 large pizzas. They have a range of 45 miles per charge and can reach speeds of 20 miles per hour.
Domino’s tested this out earlier this year in Houston, Miami and New York City.
Although this isn’t mandatory, commercial sales director at Rad Power Bikes thinks people will want to switch because it will speed up delivery times, which then increases the amount of deliveries someone can do. Using e-bikes also opens a new job opportunity for people without a drivers license or car
