Despite the taliban, a woman started secret schools for girls in Afghanistan

Millions of girls have been educated in the past decade, despite the existing ban created by the taliban. 25% of the country’s politicians are women and now there are more women doctors and teachers. Doctor Sakena Yacoobi set up secret schools for girls since 1995, risking her life, in response to the lack of education available for girls. She has been nominated for many awards, including the Nobel peace prize.
