Companies are pulling their ads off Facebook because of hate speech

There are a growing number of companies that have paused their ads on Facebook due to the company’s handling of hate speech. The movement was launched last week by advocacy groups like the anti-defamation league, the NAACP and common sense media. The campaign is called #stophate4profit and it is directed at Facebooks lack of action regarding posts that have been inciting violence during recent protests against racial injustices.

After one of the largest brands, Unilever, decided to pause their ads, Bloomberg reports that Facebook lost $7 billion. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg then announced that his company would no longer allow discriminatory ads claiming people of a specific race, religion or sex are a threat to others. Below are a list of the companies that have paused their ads on the social media platform.
