Lyft is offering free rides to job interviews

Lyft has a new program that is addressing lack of access to reliable transportation that many Americans face. Whether it’s to get to the doctor, school or a job, people from low income areas have difficulty getting transportation. Lyft is committed go improving transportation infrastructure with their new initiative, Jobs Access Program. 

The new program by the popular ride share company offers free or discounted rides to help people get a job. This includes rides to and from their job interview(s) as well as job training programs. Another major piece of the program is Lyft will also provide rides to and from work for the first 3 weeks of employment, when they will receive their first paycheck. 

The company’s partnerships with non profits will give them the opportunity to focus on communities that benefit most from the program, such as veterans those with disabilities. A recent study conducted by Lyft found that 44% of Lyft rides start or end in low income areas. Around 560,000 people in the US are unable to leave their home due to transportation barriers. .
