Kenya's first solar water plant produces clean water for locals everyday

The first solar water plant has been built in Kenya and its so much more than that. The farms turns saltwater from the region into drinkable, clean water. A filtrating system is used in the farm that can produce enough water for 35,000 people every day.  This is a game changer because according to UNICEF, 1/3 of people worldwide do not have access to clean water.

Located in a small fishing community just south of the Somalian border, the farm is powered by solar energy. Non profit organization GivePower is behind the project that’s changing lives in Kiunga, Kenya. The town did not have access to clean water, but thanks to Give Power, that has changed. Their solar powered plant transforms salty ocean water into fresh drinking water. Residents of the Kenyan vIllage no longer have to travel over an hour to get drinking water for their families.
