UPS and CVS start delivering prescriptions using drones

UPS and CVS have joined forces to start a new drone delivery to help senior citizens. UPS subsidiary, UPS Flight Forward (UPSFF) announced they will be using drones to deliver prescription medication from a CVS pharmacy to a Florida retirement community. Using a drone allows for a fast, contactless delivery that follows social distancing protocol.

Residents at The Villages will be getting their medication dropped off by a drone. The community is the largest retirement community in the US. Their press release announced that the first flights will be delivered to a location near the community and then a ground vehicle will complete the delivery at the resident’s door. The service wasn’t set to start but with the current circumstances, they were able to get approval by the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA). The drones are able to operate under current circumstances and may continue after.
