California is first in world to pass new law requiring all trucks to be electric

Clean energy is the future and California is definitely one of its leader. The western US state has just made history when it passed the worlds first clean trucks rule. Its called the advanced clean trucks (ACT) regulation and was unanimously passed by the California air resources board (CARB). It requires that more than half of trucks sold in the state are zero-emission by 2035 and 100% by 2045. This will end diesel pollution from trucks, and it applies to medium duty and large trucks.

What does zero emissions mean? The vehicle does not emit any pollutants. All electric vehicles are categorized as zero-emissions by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Aside from the zero emissions rule, large employers including retailers, manufacturers, brokers and others will be required to report information about their shipments and shuttle services. According to CARB, there are more than 70 models of zero emissions vans, trucks and buses available. CARB also said:

 In order to meet California's health based air quality standards and greenhouse gas emission reduction goals, the cars we drive and the fuel we use must be transformed away from petroleum.
