Steph and Ayesha Curry launch non profit for Oakland youth

Power couple Stephen and Ayesha Curry have just made a commitment to Oakland youth. The Curry’s unveiled their new family foundation, Eat. Learn. Play. The nonprofit is focused on children in Oakland with a mission to address nutrition, education and recreation. The couple believes these three elements are key to a healthy, active childhood.

Food insecurity is one of the primary focuses that the organization will be addressing, especially thanks to a partnership with the nonprofit, No Kid Hungry. Educational support will also be provided in the form of scholarships, mentorship and tutoring programs. All administrative expenses will be covered by the couples yearly seven-figure donation. Any other money raised will go directly into the program. Eat. Learn. Play will also partner with established organizations already working in the Oakland community.

Ayesha told the San Francisco Chronicle:

“We wanted to be involved in something that stems from our passions, that comes from that place of passion... how to help out the community.”

Almost 800 kids were present for the launch of Eat. Learn. Play.
