The restaurant guru Guy Fieri decided he needed to help restaurant workers affected by COVID 19. Around the US, restaurants closed once lockdowns were put in place, leaving thousands without a job. Thanks to a partnership with the National Restaurant association educational foundation, he was able to raise over $20 million in under 2 months.

Those in the restaurant industry who lost their jobs or experienced a drop in wages, are able to apply for grants from the fund. After a review process, the fund provides a one time $500 grant to applicants. To date, over 60,000 people have applied for the grant with roughly 20,000 grants given out. There was so much demand around the fund that they are no longer taking applications.
