2 year old Cillian Jackson from Minnesota was born with a genetic condition that makes mobility difficult. He needed a power wheelchair, but his parents couldn’t afford the expensive device and it wasn’t covered by insurance. Cillian’s father Tyler decided to reach out to the robotics team at his former high school, Farmington High. The team immediately decided to help and starting building Cillian a wheelchair.

Thanks to some technical assistance from the University of Delaware, the students hand built the wheelchair using a Power Wheels riding toy. The joystick is engraved with Cillian’s name and it was designed from a 3D printer and the seat was mounted from a bicycle carrier. Using their skills from building competition robots, the team, known as Rogue Robotics, made a splash in Cillian’s heart. This heartwarming story is being spread around the web for obvious reasons.
