Over 600 divers in Florida break world record for largest underwater cleanup
Yesterday in Deerfield Beach, a new Guinness world record was set! 633 divers had the largest underwater cleanup in our worlds history! Over 1500 pounds of trash were collected off the Deerfield Beach international fishing pier. Around 3,200 pounds of marine debris are estimated to have been removed by ocean conservation group Project AWARE. Divers from Europe and South America came to make this possible.
Saturday morning Guinness adjudicator Michael Empric conducted the official head count. The exact number of trash is still being confirmed.
