Group of teenage girls in Afghanistan use old car parts to create ventilator

In Kabul, Afghanistan, a group of teenage girls spend their mornings at a mechanics workshop. The girls are members of Afghanistan’s prize-winning girls’ robotics team. They are on a mission to help their community and save lives. They have created a prototype of a ventilator made out of used car parts. One of the members, 17 year old Somaya Farooqi, said:

“If we even save one life with our device, we will be proud”.

The country currently has only 400 ventilators and a population of over 36.6 million, which is what inspired the girls to come up with a solution.
